WISEWOMAN Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection ProgramIn addition to a clinical breast exam, Pap test, and mammogram, women who participate in the Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for WOmen Across the Nation (WISEWOMAN) Program receive the following services:

  • Blood Pressure Screening
  • Cholesterol and HDL Screening
  • Blood Glucose Screening
  • Risk Assessment
  • Nutrition Counseling
  • Physical Activity Counseling

If cholesterol and blood pressure levels are elevated, women would participate in a Lifestyle Modification Intervention with a registered dietitian or registered nurse. The Stay Healthy for Life intervention includes nutrition and physical activity components.

The initial meeting will be a one-hour individual session, which will address current nutrition and physical activity patterns and establish goals. Women will then attend three support/educational groups. The group’s objective is to motivate women to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
