BREAST CANCER 101 COURSE
MORE DATES & TIMES TO BE ANNOUNCED
The Connecticut Breast Cancer Coalition is pleased to announce the launch
of the Breast Cancer 101 Course on September 15, 2003 in Bridgeport, CT.
Breast Cancer 101 is an interactive one-day workshop that provides a general
introduction to the science of breast cancer. The course will offer an
overview that will allow patients and providers to better understand the
nature of the disease and its treatment.
The course is designed for:
-
Advocates who serve the breast cancer population
-
Breast cancer patients
-
Women who serve on commissions and committees in Connecticut
-
Women who make funding decisions about breast cancer research
The course will provide an overview of the science that drives research
and treatment of breast cancer. Many women who work with the breast cancer
population have never been trained in the scientific language patients
must deal with (i.e., aromatase inhibitor, SERM, Her2, etc.). The language
can be highly technical and confusing. This will not be a course
in specific treatment options (comparing risks/benefits of one drug with
another).
