BREAST CANCER EMERGENCY FUND

When a Woman Needs a Little Help

When a woman diagnosed with breast cancer has to undergo treatment, many times her life is changed. Most women in treatment must still care for their families—shopping, cooking, and cleaning. Many more women must continue to work during treatment. Oftentimes, the treatment creates a new set of financial burdens. To help ease these burdens, The Connecticut Breast Cancer Coalition Foundation is establishing an Emergency Fund to help women in Connecticut who are dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, treatment or the effects from treating this disease.

The Fund is designed to provide non-medical financial assistance to women facing hardships and need help with babysitting, healthy food, specialty bras and forms, transportation to doctor’s appointments, in some instances rent, etc. The Fund will provide grants to women with breast cancer to help them through their difficult time.

CBCCF wants this Fund to assist women who have financial need associated with or arising from a diagnosis or treatment of breast cancer. The Fund fulfills a crucial need to provide non-medical financial assistance to women facing day-to-day hardships while dealing with breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and its effects on their lives.

CBCCF will consider requests up to $300 per applicant. Each request will be reviewed by the Emergency Fund Committee and decisions made in accordance with the availability of funds designated for this purpose and based on demonstrated need of the applicant. Please contact your hospital social worker for an application.
